Welcome to the St John's College career site

We are searching for the best education professionals

Overview

Since its inception in 1987, St John’s College has grown to become a leading independent School in Wales and its Catholic ethos aims to be truly universal and embrace all faiths and none into its welcoming, inclusive community. There is a genuinely warm welcome to everyone at St John’s, regardless of background, and we take enormous pride in the strong sense of family and community spirit kindled by our dedicated teachers and support staff. Our core philosophy - ‘work hard, play hard, and look after one another’ - is at the very heart of our teaching and learning programmes.

We work immensely hard to ensure we achieve outstanding academic results and exhibit exemplary pastoral care; therefore, we make every effort to ensure that our recruitment process supports us in finding the right candidate who can join us in upholding these standards. Likewise, are committed to Safeguarding and Promoting the Welfare of all children; candidates should be aware that all posts in our School involve some degree of responsibility for safeguarding children and young people.

St John’s College pays full regard to the Welsh Assembly statutory guidance ‘Keeping Learners Safe in Education’, document 265/2020; anyone who works in our School is likely to be perceived by children as a safe and trustworthy adult (including volunteers and staff employed by contractors). Therefore, all candidates will be subject to appropriate checks in line with current legislation and best practice.

Meet our HR team

St John's College prides itself on its outstanding academic results and exemplary pastoral care; therefore, we make every effort to ensure that the recruitment process supports us in finding the right candidates. To that end, the interview process for teachers would typically include a lesson observation and an assessment in the form of an in-tray exercise. The HR Team are here to support and guide you through the process.

A message from our Headteacher

Mr. Shaun Moody

SM2.jpg

I have accumulated 30 years of teaching experience at St John's as well holding the positions of Examinations officer and Assistant Head.

St John's is an extraordinary community, within which I feel privileged to belong. The family spirit which is engendered at the school held out its arms to my own daughters who were warmly welcomed and educated up to A-Level.

Be assured, the core values and Catholic ethos of the school will continue and prosper under my guidance and that of my senior staff. We shall be moving forward with our new initiatives both academic and co-curricular.

St John's College prides itself on its outstanding academic results and exemplary pastoral care and we are immensely proud of all our achievements and progress which has now been recognised in our most recent ESTYN inspection report where we achieved EXCELLENT standards -"The standards achieved by pupils across the school are extremely high and throughout the school, pupils are confident and articulate learners".

We are indebted to all our dedicated staff, hard-working pupils, and supportive parents.

Mr. Shaun Moody,

Headteacher.

Mission Statement

At St John's College, we encourage the entire School community, as children of God, to realise their potential and be the best they can be. We aim to inspire and advance independent, critical thinking; creating a curiosity and wonder for learning in its broadest sense.

Using our Christian values that draw upon the teachings of the Catholic Church, we love and cherish each other, celebrating our similarities and respecting our differences. We enrich pupils’ experiences by providing equal opportunities that promote a deep respect for everyone, regardless of gender, race, creed or ability.

We strive for happiness in all that we do; the family values of respect, compassion, and security are at the heart of who we are. We rejoice in preparing our children for life beyond St John’s, nurturing the desire and ability to have a positive impact as global citizens.
